I cannot tell you how many times I’ve played NHL and started a “Be a GM” mode. The countless trades that I tried to do and realized that the trade was terrible or a player was just “eh.” I would simply hit the power button and “voila” the gang's all back together. I’m sure certain GM’s wish they could undo trades and simply hit the power button to back when the team was in their winning ways See Don Sweeney’s Draft Day magic that turned into 3 first rounders failing conditioning tests - LOL.
What we really care about is the possibility of a trade for the N.Y. Rangers. There are countless nonsense rumors and “trade X and a whiteboard for Y, a second rounder, and a bag of pucks” talk that it gets everyone excited - it’s like Christmas in Jul...errr... I mean February. Let’s divulge into this two part talk of trade rumors - this one’s on the Forward position.

1. Mikkel Boedker
I’m going to start of with my number one guy that the Rangers should go out and pursue. The next question that will be asked is “uh, who?” Yes, this guy is a force. Yes, the Rangers D-corps needs a little fixing *cough Girardi/Staal cough* but this is a top 6 forward - in his prime. The Rangers may have to pay a fairly steep price to get him but he may not want to stay in the desert while the team rebuilds around him. He currently leads the team in points (30), second on the team in goals (12), and tied for first in assists - good enough to be second on the Rangers in points. I almost forgot to mention - he’s a right winger - and the Rangers need those guys! People might say “wait, he’s a -15 and his Corsi is 45.5.” These might be the same people that said very, very similar statements about Keith Yandle and, well, so far so good. The only problem is that the Coyotes are 2nd in the Pacific Division and 7th in the Western Conference,as of today. Maybe, just maybe they’ll pull the ‘ole Rangers slide and Boedker can slide on over the the Big Apple.

2. Jonathan Drouin
As I am currently writing this, the Rangers have some extreme interest in this guy. The Rangers have done a trade or two in the past with the Lightning (MSL + Cally). He is unhappy with the Bolts Front Office for a while now, which we just learned he asked to be traded in November - a whole 2 months ago. Last year he had 32 points in 70 games - at 19 years old. Everyone is panicking this year that he only has 8 points (2G, 6A) this year while averaging 14:07 TOI. People have said that this kid was the next MSL, so if he’s even remotely close to MSL then sign me up. He has been said to be an elite scorer but just has not found his touch quite yet. However, he is shooting at 10% this year and shot around 5% last year and the average is right around where players like Galchenyuk and Huberdeau fall - not terrible company to be in.

3. Ryan Johansen
Everyone knows that “no one is safe in Columbus.” This guy is a number 1 center (at 23 years old) with a cap hit of 4 million. He has two years left on his contract and there has been some chatter for while now that he may be moved as he isn’t happy, even more so after he was a healthy scratch. An All-Star one year removed, has been looking quite the opposite as of late. Although looking good in Columbus is not an easy task these days. Maybe just maybe he’s one of those “Change of Scenery Projects.”
Honorable Mention:
The Rangers could always go pick up Dany Heatley. I heard that he’s a free agent and he once had 50 in ‘07, which was just a few years ago.
